On October 20th, we learned from the Poetry Journal Society that the dual-language edition of “Youth, Like the Wind” (the inaugural International Youth Poetry Festival – BRICS Nations Special Session) had its official launch at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany.

The collection features works by poets who participated in the inaugural International Youth Poetry Festival’s BRICS Nations Special Session in China. This festival builds on the legacy of the “Youth Poetry Festival,” which started back in 1980, marking the beginning of a vibrant youth poetry movement in China. Many of the young poets who took part in the initial festival have gone on to become significant voices in contemporary Chinese poetry.

To effectively showcase the creative achievements of international young poets and foster cultural exchange, this book was edited by the Poetry Journal Society under the Chinese Writers’ Association. It includes representative poems from 72 young poets across ten BRICS member countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia, published in a bilingual format to celebrate this moment of youthful interaction.

Li Shaojun, the chief editor of the Poetry Journal Society, expressed hopes that “Youth, Like the Wind” would resonate with young readers around the world, and that the influence of the International Youth Poetry Festival would continue to grow.

The launch event was guided by the Chinese Writers’ Association and the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, with the Foreign Languages Press and the Poetry Journal Society as the main organizers.
