The Chongqing-Xiamen high-speed railway section from Chongqing east to Qianjiang has fully entered the track laying stage
On October 9, 2023, the first set of 500-meter-long steel rails was successfully placed at the construction site in Majia Bridge, Qianjiang District, marking a significant milestone for the Yuxia High-Speed Railway. According to the Yuchuan Railway Co., this event signifies that the segment from Chongqing East to Qianjiang of the Yuxia line has officially entered the track-laying phase.
The Chongqing section of the Yuxia High-Speed Railway, stretching 269.5 kilometers from downtown Chongqing to Qianjiang, is a crucial part of the national railway network’s “Eight Verticals and Eight Horizontals” high-speed rail plan. Currently, the only remaining major construction task is the completion of the Caiyuanba Yangtze River Railway Tunnel, which is progressing steadily according to the construction schedule.
The track laying for the segment from Chongqing East to Qianjiang covers approximately 249 kilometers, with a total of around 597 kilometers of track to be laid, including 503 kilometers of main line and 94 kilometers of station line, along with the installation of 325 switch sets.
Once completed, the Yuxia High-Speed Railway will reduce travel time from downtown Chongqing to Qianjiang from four hours to less than one hour. This will not only enhance economic connections along the route but also play a vital role in integrating tourism resources and promoting rapid socio-economic development in the surrounding regions.
