Talented young player Asher Ofega Agbinone has made headlines after becoming the latest Crystal Palace Academy graduate to debut in the Premier League, taking the field against Nottingham Forest on Monday night. At just 19 years old, Agbinone’s journey in football began at the age of nine, and he has steadily climbed the ranks to earn his first-team debut.

Born to a Nigerian father and a French mother, Agbinone honed his skills at Crystal Palace’s renowned Academy. He also attended Whitgift School, a prestigious private institution in the UK that has produced notable football talents like Victor Moses.

Fans have been captivated by Agbinone’s explosive play style, versatility, and goal-scoring ability. His career highlights include making his Under-18 debut in the 2021/22 season, scoring his first U18 goal in October 2022, netting the winning goal against Sheffield United in the Under-18 Premier League Cup, signing his first professional contract, and winning Crystal Palace’s Goal of the Month for a stunning strike against Tottenham Hotspur U18s. He also assisted George King’s winning goal against Plymouth Argyle U18s.

In total, Agbinone has made 20 appearances (18 in U18 and 2 in U21 matches), scoring nine goals and providing one assist. He also featured in the first team’s pre-season tour in the United States, where he scored in a 3-1 victory against Wolves.

Reflecting on his Premier League debut, Agbinone shared, “I’m feeling good. The result didn’t go as we wanted, so that kind of overshadows it, but I’m still grateful.” When asked about his playing style, he credited his manager and the coaching staff, stating, “They encouraged me to take players on when I can.”

Agbinone’s impressive rise highlights Crystal Palace’s commitment to developing young talent. He has previously been invited to join the England national team and has a promising future ahead in his football career. Interestingly, the young player is eligible to represent four countries: Nigeria, England, France, and Congo Brazzaville, much like his former teammate Michele Olise.
