On October 15th, in Guangzhou, representatives from the Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce, the Nansha District Chamber of Commerce, and the Macao Chamber of Commerce signed a cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing support for private enterprises venturing into international markets. The signing took place during the “Chamber Collaboration and Industrial Innovation” national exchange event held in Nansha.
During this significant gathering, leaders from the respective organizations, including Liang Yaoming, Chairman of the Guangzhou Federation of Industry and Commerce; Lai Ningchang, President of the Nansha Chamber of Commerce; and Wu Huahui, Executive Vice President of the Macao Chamber of Commerce, formalized their commitment through the signing of the cooperation agreement.
The agreement indicates a collective intent to explore innovative cooperative models that will assist private enterprises in expanding their reach abroad. It aims to leverage the close ties between Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries, with Nansha serving as a hub for creating a support platform to facilitate this growth.
“This exchange event is very meaningful, and ‘connecting with the bay and venturing overseas’ is something we can actively contribute to from Macao,” stated Ou Jiawei, President of the Macao Chamber of Commerce. He emphasized that Guangzhou boasts a diverse range of industries, particularly in apparel and cosmetics, which align well with the market demands of Portuguese-speaking countries. The cooperation agreement is expected to encourage a greater number of businesses from Guangzhou and other cities in the Greater Bay Area to utilize Macao as a gateway to enter Portuguese-speaking markets.
Ou also highlighted that the Macao Chamber of Commerce brought over ten key member companies to participate in this event, representing various sectors including construction, services, and apparel. He expressed hopes that the event would foster business opportunities and collaborations with companies in Guangzhou and beyond, while also attracting more Macao enterprises to develop in mainland China.
