In Zhangzhou, Fujian, 162 projects were started and completed in the fourth quarter, with an investment of 65.86 billion yuan.

On October 9, 2023, the city of Zhangzhou in Fujian Province held a significant event marking the commencement and completion of projects for the fourth quarter of 2024. A total of 162 projects are included in this initiative, boasting a total investment of 65.86 billion yuan (approximately $9.2 billion).

Among the projects initiated are key developments such as the Zhangzhou High-tech Zone’s new solid-state battery industrial park, the coastal protection works at the Gulei Port area of Xiamen, and a green, intelligent food production base in Longwen District. Additionally, 78 projects have been completed, including the Zhongjie Energy Innovation Park in the Taiwan-invested area of Zhangzhou and a public cemetery project in Changtai District.

Notably, 14 projects with investments exceeding 1 billion yuan participated in this event, with eight breaking ground. Some of the major underway projects include the expansion of the Pengchi Min-Tai Intelligent Manufacturing Park in the Zhangzhou Taiwan Investment Zone and the new campus for the Zhangzhou Second Hospital in Longhai. On the completion side, projects like the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Unit 1 and a chemical facility in Gulei Development Zone, capable of producing 180,000 tons per year, were successfully finished.

Additionally, the city hosted a signing ceremony where 92 projects were formalized, amounting to 21.03 billion yuan (roughly $3 billion). During the ceremony, 16 projects were signed on-site, totaling 7.69 billion yuan, with 11 of these classified as “ready-to-start” projects.

In terms of project composition, there are two foreign-invested projects with an investment of 820 million yuan, one project from a central state-owned enterprise with an investment of 100 million yuan, and 13 private enterprises contributing 6.77 billion yuan. Regarding project scale, there are two projects over the 1 billion yuan mark: the 1.5 billion yuan new materials manufacturing project in Nanjing County, and a 1 billion yuan project producing specialized chemicals for electronics and new energy at Gulei Development Zone.
