In the first eight months of this year, the first-line import and export value of Hubei Comprehensive Bonded Zone exceeded 77.2 billion yuan
During a recent interview with the Hubei Provincial Department of Commerce, it was revealed that from January to August of this year, the comprehensive bonded zone in Hubei has achieved an impressive import and export value of 77.22 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 49.3%. This figure accounts for 18% of the province’s total foreign trade, setting a new record.
The comprehensive bonded zone serves as a crucial platform for Hubei’s openness to the world, playing a significant role in developing foreign trade, attracting foreign investment, and promoting industrial transformation.
Hubei currently operates six comprehensive bonded zones, covering a total area of 12.44 square kilometers. In the first eight months of this year, there were 195 operational projects and 25 under construction within these zones. Notably, the Jingdong Cross-Border Pre-Storage Center in the Donghu Comprehensive Bonded Zone has begun operations, achieving over 10 billion yuan in cross-border e-commerce import and export value, a 45% increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, the International Logistics Distribution Center at the Wuhan New Port Comprehensive Bonded Zone has been completed. The Xiangyang Comprehensive Bonded Zone’s Cainiao Cross-Border Center has become the first bonded warehouse in China to serve the three major cross-border e-commerce platforms, with an import trade value of approximately 600 million yuan.
In recent years, Hubei has been actively advancing port construction, optimizing port layouts, and expanding its foreign trade gateways. The province’s eight open ports now achieve full coverage across rail, water, and air transport, as well as all major metropolitan areas. There are currently 48 international air cargo and passenger routes, 43 waterway container routes, and 83 multimodal transport corridors. The China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan) has established 55 cross-border transport lines, creating a globally connected network.
To enhance port operational efficiency, Hubei is progressing with the smart port construction at Ezhou Huahu Airport, utilizing digital technology for precise regulation, efficient operations, and collaborative management at smart ports. Additionally, the province is promoting innovative air cargo models at remote freight stations, maximizing the potential of the Optics Valley Super Logistics Center to boost foreign trade enterprises’ customs clearance efficiency by over 30%.
