The Taiwan Excellence Happy Run, organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ International Trade Administration and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, celebrated its 10th anniversary this year in Indonesia. The event took place today in Ancol, North Jakarta, attracting an impressive crowd of 5,000 eager runners. The atmosphere was electric, with participants warming up and sharing the excitement before the race.

According to the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, the fact that the registration system sold out all 5,000 spots in mere minutes, along with an additional 1,500 backup slots, showcases the strong support and recognition the “Taiwan Excellence Happy Run” enjoys among the Indonesian public.

The Council highlighted that today’s event is not just about running; it aims to promote high-quality Taiwanese brands while supporting the Indonesian government’s sustainability goals. Partnering with the local environmental organization Lindungi Hutan, they initiated a tree adoption program, encouraging participants to contribute actively to environmental sustainability. This initiative underscores Taiwan’s commitment to protecting the environment and enhances the positive image of Taiwanese companies in the global marketplace.

Chen Zhong, the representative in Indonesia, expressed his excitement at the event, saying, “The Taiwan Excellence Happy Run has been held annually since 2014, combining sports and philanthropy. It has become a cherished event among the Indonesian community. Most importantly, it enables us to showcase the quality of Taiwan Excellence to a broad audience and receive their enthusiastic support.”

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council noted that several prominent Taiwanese brands, including EVA Air, China Airlines, StarLux Airlines, and CTBC Bank, sponsored this year’s running event.

These companies set up interactive experience zones at the venue, providing runners with a chance to engage deeply with Taiwan’s culture and technological advancements. They also featured Taiwanese cuisine and product displays, allowing participants to experience the diverse appeal of MIT (Made in Taiwan) products firsthand.

Xiao Fengqi, director of the Taipei Trade Office in Jakarta, shared, “The Taiwan Excellence Happy Run isn’t just a celebration of sports in Indonesia; it serves as a platform for Taiwanese brands to build strong emotional connections with consumers.”

She emphasized, “For many years, Taiwan Excellence has focused on introducing the highest quality MIT products to the vast Indonesian consumer market while fostering bilateral economic and cultural exchanges. Through this running event, the visibility of Taiwanese companies in Indonesia is significantly enhanced, allowing more locals to appreciate their excellence in technological innovation and social responsibility.”
