In a recent interview, C.L. Dong, the National Executive Director of the Asian Chamber of Commerce, shed light on the pivotal role of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in the United States, which has emerged as the fastest-growing ethnic group in the nation. Dong emphasized that the AAPI community significantly contributes to job creation and economic growth, with its purchasing power poised to reach an impressive $1.6 trillion this year. She noted that AAPI entrepreneurs can achieve remarkable successes when provided with the right opportunities, resources, and guidance.

During her remarks, Dong highlighted that in 2023, Vice President Kamala Harris announced that National ACE was among 43 organizations awarded federal Capital Readiness Program (CRP) grants. This initiative represents the largest direct federal investment in emerging small businesses in U.S. history. The Capital Readiness Program is designed to help businesses, particularly AAPI entrepreneurs, overcome challenges by improving access to funding and promoting effective operations. Since 2021, the National ACE has distributed over $8 million in grants to support AAPI entrepreneurs.

Dong reaffirmed that the Asian Chamber of Commerce operates as a bipartisan organization dedicated to uplifting the AAPI business community. She noted that the organization was honored with the Advocacy Award by the White House in 2017. Looking ahead to 2024, she mentioned that the Chamber will co-host a Lunar New Year reception at the Vice President’s residence, further solidifying its commitment as a national voice for the AAPI community.

As the host of the ACE Annual Meeting, Dong expressed her gratitude to all the attendees and encouraged everyone to get actively involved in AAPI issues. She stressed the crucial role of community engagement in shaping a brighter future for AAPI entrepreneurs and businesses.
