Disney’s Halloween starts, haunted house recreates visitors’ screams
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are officially ushering in their Halloween celebrations, which run until October 31. This year, the Haunted Mansion has received a festive makeover inspired by Tim Burton’s classic film, “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” featuring 15 ghostly rooms just waiting for daring guests to explore. If you’re passionate about Halloween, there’s no better time to experience the spine-tingling magic that only Disney can deliver.
As the Halloween season unfolds, Disneyland Resort is gearing up for two months filled with festive excitement. Visitors can expect to encounter Halloween decorations and themed attractions all around the parks, alongside special entertainment options and seasonal culinary delights. Many guests come decked out in their finest costumes, while some furry friends even join in the fun, sporting adorable Mickey Mouse ears. Lines can stretch long as guests snap pictures with Jack Skellington and Sally, with dedicated fans even showcasing tattoos of Jack’s iconic visage—talk about loyalty!
The parks are beautifully adorned with pumpkins and autumn leaves. Among the highlights is the giant Mickey Mouse pumpkin located right in the heart of Disneyland, a must-visit for photo ops. Mickey is dressed in a skeleton-themed outfit, while Minnie and the crew don playful patchwork costumes. At California Adventure Park, visitors can look forward to “Mickey’s Trick and Treat,” a daytime show hosted by a mad scientist character. Here, Mickey and his friends celebrate a not-so-scary Halloween filled with whimsical tales, magical concoctions, and catchy songs that invite audiences of all ages to join in the fun.
This Halloween season stands out especially for the newly reimagined Haunted Mansion, which promises a thrilling expedition through a ghostly estate that has housed 999 spooky spirits since its opening on August 9, 1969. This dimly lit attraction features over 15 eerie rooms, including the Portrait Chamber, Grand Ballroom, and Graveyard, all filled with ghosts, ghouls, and supernatural surprises. Guests will ride in the spine-chilling Doom Buggy, navigating through a series of both playful and frightful apparitions—it’s a classic ride guaranteed to give you goosebumps.
As the sun sets, the Halloween atmosphere intensifies, with projections on the iconic Sleeping Beauty Castle bringing various Disney villains to life in their mischievous glory.
This year, Disney is also introducing a brand-new autumn-themed dining experience, offering a mouthwatering array of seasonal food and drink options. From the Galicate Grill’s Ghost Burger to the Mickey Mummy Shake at Schmoozies and the Graveyard Funnel Cake at Stage Door Café, there are plenty of festive treats to enjoy.
With so much to see and do, Disneyland truly is the quintessential destination for anyone eager to immerse themselves in the Halloween spirit!
