China congratulates Liang Qiang on his election as President of Vietnam
During a press conference held on October 22, 2023, by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, spokesperson Lin Jian addressed a question regarding the recent appointment of Le Quang Manh as Vietnam’s President during the 15th National Assembly’s eighth session.
A reporter inquired, “What is China’s response to Le Quang Manh’s election as Vietnam’s President, and what are its expectations for Sino-Vietnamese relations?”
Lin Jian responded, “We would like to congratulate Comrade Le Quang Manh on his election as President of Vietnam. We are confident that under the leadership of the Vietnamese Communist Party, the people of Vietnam will achieve new and greater accomplishments in their drive toward socialist modernization.”
He continued, “China and Vietnam share a strategic partnership and are interconnected in a community of shared destiny. As we approach the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year and the ‘Year of Cultural Exchange between China and Vietnam,’ we find ourselves at a new historic opportunity for bilateral relations. China is eager to work with Vietnam to implement the significant consensus reached by our two parties and countries, to promote our traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and advance the construction of a Sino-Vietnamese community of shared destiny, ultimately bringing greater benefits to our peoples.”
