On October 25, during a routine press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian addressed media inquiries.

A foreign reporter asked, “Recently, the Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan announced on social media that China will provide zero-tariff treatment on all products to Afghanistan. Can you share more details about this initiative?”

Lin Jian responded, “On September 5 of this year, President Xi Jinping announced during the opening ceremony of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing that China is willing to proactively and unilaterally expand market access. This decision includes granting zero-tariff treatment on all products to 33 African countries and all least developed countries that have established diplomatic relations with China. China is proud to be the first developing country and major global economy to implement such a measure. As one of the least developed countries recognized by the United Nations, Afghanistan will also benefit from this preferential policy. We believe this will promote economic and trade cooperation between China and Afghanistan, resulting in mutual benefits.”
