Boeing technicians reject salary increase negotiation plan and continue strike
On October 23, Boeing technicians on strike refused a newly proposed four-year agreement that included a 35% pay raise, allowing their costly protest, now ongoing for 41 days, to continue.
According to The Hill, this compromise, represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), included not only the pay increase but also a one-time bonus of $7,000 and improved retirement benefits.
Jon Holden, president of IAM District 751, and Brandon Bryant, president of IAM District W24, released a joint statement emphasizing the consequences of years of mistreatment of workers by the company. They noted that Boeing has consistently undermined its employees over the past decade, a situation that won’t be resolved quickly or easily. However, the union is committed to negotiating in good faith until an agreement is reached that adequately compensates the workers for what they feel has been unfairly taken from them.
