All tires exploded and caught fire during -hard landing- at Frontier Airlines Casino, Air Traffic Control Bureau wants to investigate
On October 5, a Frontier Airlines flight encountered a fire incident just moments before landing in Las Vegas, drawing widespread attention on social media. Eyewitnesses shared videos capturing flames and smoke billowing from the aircraft’s underside as it approached the runway. Thankfully, all 190 passengers and 7 crew members aboard Flight 1326 from San Diego to Harry Reid International Airport were unharmed. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the occurrence.
The emergency began around 3:37 PM when the pilots noticed smoke in the cockpit and immediately communicated the situation to air traffic control, while also informing the passengers of the emergency status.
Videos circulating online show the aircraft landing, trailing thick smoke as flames erupted from between the wheels. Reports indicate that the Airbus A321 Neo executed a “hard landing,” which caused the landing gear to catch fire. Airport officials confirmed that this hard landing led to all tires blowing out.
In response to the smoke alert, emergency response teams from Clark County were dispatched without delay. Upon landing, it was revealed that the right engine was on fire, but the airport’s fire department quickly extinguished the flames.
Witnesses described seeing both flames and smoke as the airplane touched down. Remarkably, all individuals on board managed to evacuate safely, with no injuries reported. Social media videos show that neither passengers nor crew had to use the emergency slides; everyone evacuated promptly and was escorted to the terminal. The aircraft remained on the runway until it was towed away later that evening around 7 PM.
On October 6, the NTSB shared a statement on social media, announcing that they, along with the FAA, would be investigating the incident, with an emphasis on determining the source of the smoke in the cockpit.
