According to the China Weather Network, a weak cold front is set to impact northern regions over the next three days, from October 9 to 11, leading to a drop in temperatures. However, the influence of this cold front will be mainly confined to northern areas, resulting in a limited cooling effect overall. As we move toward the weekend, a warming trend is anticipated across much of central and eastern China. In several northeastern cities, we could see temperatures nearly 10°C above the average for this time of year, while areas in the Huanghuai region and along the middle and lower Yangtze River may experience highs approaching 30°C.

During this three-day period, northern regions are expected to experience a temperature decline of 3 to 6°C in parts of North China, with some central and eastern areas potentially seeing drops exceeding 8°C. Accompanying this cold front will be northwesterly winds blowing at speeds of 4 to 5 levels, with gusts reaching 6 to 8 levels. It’s important to note that although these fluctuations are noteworthy, the cold air is relatively weak and primarily affects northern regions.

After this brief cool-down, a warming phase is predicted to commence on October 11, especially for central and eastern parts of the country, where temperatures are expected to rise by 4 to 8°C above seasonal norms. This trend will be particularly noticeable in areas north of the middle and lower Yangtze River.

For example, cities in the northeast are likely to see daily highs soar above 20°C between the 13th and 14th, with Harbin and Changchun forecasted to reach 21°C and 23°C, respectively—about 10°C higher than typical mid-October averages.

Additionally, regions in southern North China, Huanghuai, and the middle and lower Yangtze River will also warm up, with maximum temperatures exceeding 25°C and possibly reaching or surpassing 30°C. Major cities like Jinan can expect temperatures to hit 22°C tomorrow, and climb to 29°C by the 15th.

While these areas will enjoy a return to warmer conditions, it’s worth noting that cold fronts are becoming increasingly active as early October progresses. Another cold front is anticipated to move southward around the 15th, which may bring widespread cooling and increased rainfall to regions north of the Yangtze River. Given these temperature swings, it’s advisable for the public to prepare for varying weather conditions by having appropriate clothing ready to mitigate the risk of catching a cold.
