Affected by -Tanmei-, many scenic spots in Sanya will suspend operations on the 26th
On October 25th, the 20th typhoon of the season, “Tama,” is making its way towards Hainan Island, prompting the Sanya Meteorological Station to issue a blue alert for the typhoon later that afternoon. Several tourist attractions in Sanya announced they would suspend operations on October 26th.
According to the blue alert issued by the Sanya Meteorological Station at 5:24 PM, the winds along the Sanya coastline and inland areas are expected to increase to levels of 6 to 7, with gusts reaching 8 to 9, accompanied by heavy rain over the next 24 hours.
In the evening at the Sanya Yacht Tourism Center, yachts and boats were neatly docked at the pier, seeking shelter from the approaching storm. To ensure the safety of visitors, the Wuzhizhou Island Tourism Area and the Xidao Marine Cultural Tourism Area announced their closure for October 26th.
As per the latest report from the Central Meteorological Station, at 8 PM, the center of Typhoon “Tama” was located at 17.6 degrees North latitude and 115.9 degrees East longitude, roughly 385 kilometers northeast of Sanya’s Sansha City (Yongxing Island). The maximum sustained winds were recorded at level 10 (28 meters per second), classifying it as a strong tropical storm. The typhoon is expected to move westward at around 20 kilometers per hour, with little change in intensity anticipated.
As of 9 PM, operations at Sanya Phoenix International Airport have not been affected by Typhoon “Tama.”
