According to the Central Meteorological Administration, Typhoon “Tammei” is set to have significant weather impacts from October 25 to 29. Areas including southern Jiangsu, Shanghai, southeastern Anhui, central and eastern Zhejiang, northeastern Fujian, Taiwan Island, southwestern Guangdong, southeastern Guangxi, Hainan Island, and Sansha are expected to experience heavy to torrential rain. Notably, parts of eastern Zhejiang, Hainan Island, and Sansha could see extremely heavy rainfall.

At 5 AM today, the center of Typhoon “Tammei” was located off the west coast of Luzon Island in the Philippines, at a latitude of 17.0 degrees north and a longitude of 119.2 degrees east. Maximum sustained winds near the center reached 9 on the Beaufort scale (23 m/s), with a minimum central pressure of 990 hPa, and a radius of the 7-grade wind circle spanning 200-300 kilometers.

The typhoon is forecasted to move westward at approximately 20 kilometers per hour, entering the eastern South China Sea while gradually strengthening to the level of a strong tropical storm or even a typhoon (with wind speeds of 28-33 m/s, equivalent to 10-12 on the Beaufort scale). By the night of October 27, it is expected to begin shifting eastward, though its intensity is anticipated to gradually weaken. The Central Meteorological Administration has continued to issue a blue alert for the typhoon as of 6 AM today.

In addition to the rainfall from the typhoon, the eastern and southern coastal areas are experiencing strong winds. From 8 AM on October 25 to 8 AM on October 26, wind speeds of 7 to 9 on the Beaufort scale and gusts reaching 10 to 11 are expected in the western East China Sea, the Taiwan Strait, northern and central South China Sea, the Bashi Channel, and the Dongsha, Zhongsha, and Xisha Islands. Certain areas in the middle of the South China Sea may experience winds of up to level 10, with gusts of 11 to 12.

From October 25 to 28, a weak cold front will bring a temperature drop of 3-6 degrees Celsius in parts of central and eastern northern Xinjiang, North China, Inner Mongolia, and northeastern China. Some areas of eastern Inner Mongolia may experience drops exceeding 8 degrees. Light to moderate snow or sleet is anticipated in the eastern Tibetan Plateau, with heavy snow likely in isolated regions such as southeastern Qinghai, eastern Inner Mongolia, and northern Sichuan.

Looking ahead, here is the specific weather forecast for the next three days:

From 8 AM on October 25 to 8 AM on October 26, areas including the Altai region of Xinjiang, southern Xinjiang, central Inner Mongolia, northeastern Tibet, eastern and southern Qinghai, the Qilian Mountains in Gansu, and northern Sichuan are likely to see light to moderate snow or sleet. Some regions may experience heavy snow, particularly in central Inner Mongolia and southeastern Qinghai. Meanwhile, southeastern Jiangsu, southern Anhui, most of Shanghai, eastern Zhejiang, southern Sichuan, southwestern Guangdong, Hainan Island, and most of Taiwan are expected to receive moderate to heavy rain, with the potential for torrential rain in coastal areas of Zhejiang and northeastern Fujian, as well as eastern Taiwan and the Xisha and Zhongsha Islands.

From 8 AM on October 26 to 8 AM on October 27, small to moderate snow or sleet is anticipated in parts of central and eastern Inner Mongolia, northeastern Heilongjiang, northeastern Tibet, and eastern Qinghai. Conversely, southern Jiangsu, southeastern Anhui, most of Shanghai, eastern Zhejiang, southern Sichuan, southwestern Guangdong, Hainan Island, and most of Taiwan are likely to experience moderate to heavy rain, with some areas facing torrential rain.

From 8 AM on October 27 to 8 AM on October 28, light snow or sleet may occur in northeastern Heilongjiang, the Altai region of Xinjiang, and western southern Xinjiang. Moderate to heavy rain is expected in western Zhejiang, central and southern Guangxi, southern Guangdong, Hainan, and eastern Taiwan, with certain areas in central and eastern Hainan facing torrential rain. Winds of 4 to 5 on the Beaufort scale are expected in parts of southern Guangdong and Hainan.
