Nearly 140,000 acres of -Bingtangxin- apples in Aksu City, Xinjiang have entered the picking period
In October, the apple orchards in Aksu City, Xinjiang, are bustling with activity as 139,900 acres of “Ice Sugar Heart” apples reach maturity and enter the harvest season.
Farmers are seizing the moment, busy picking, sorting, and packing the fruit.
One grower, Aizezi Yidires, shared his enthusiasm: “This year, I planted 30 acres of apples, and I’ve had technical support throughout the process. The apples are large, juicy, and sweet, with good market prices. The income is quite impressive. Our village is also assisting us with organic orchard certification, and I believe our earnings will be even better next year.”
Thanks to its favorable geographic location and ample sunlight, Aksu’s “Ice Sugar Heart” apples are thin-skinned, tender, and bursting with flavor, making them a favorite among consumers. This quality has drawn merchants who are eager to place early orders.
“I’ve been sourcing apples from here for five years, collecting around 700 to 800 tons each year. This time, we pre-ordered Aksu apples, primarily for distribution to Beijing and Shanghai,” said buyer Song Junwei.
In recent years, Aksu City has been focused on fostering the high-quality development of its apple industry. By leveraging technology, they’ve helped farmers enhance their orchard management skills and expand sales channels, ultimately boosting farmers’ incomes and contributing to ongoing rural revitalization efforts.
