The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka reminds Chinese tourists in Sri Lanka to choose companies with legal tourism qualifications
Recently, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka has issued a warning regarding the rising number of incidents where locals mislead Chinese tourists into using “illegal intermediaries,” “unregistered vehicles,” and “unlicensed guides.” These situations have unfortunately led to disputes, extortion, or even theft.
To shed light on this issue, we had the opportunity to speak with a representative from the embassy. They emphasized the importance of taking precautions when traveling in Sri Lanka. “We strongly advise Chinese tourists to select legitimate travel companies through authorized platforms or channels,” the representative stated. “It’s crucial not to trust recommendations from strangers who might lead you to these illegal services, as they can result in unnecessary trouble.”
Furthermore, the embassy encourages tourists to reach out for help if they encounter difficulties during their stay. They can contact the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka at (0094)11-2676033, or utilize the global consular protection hotline provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at +86-10-12308 or +86-10-65612308 for assistance.
