In a recent announcement on their official WeChat account, the Chinese Consulate General in Frankfurt revealed concerning news about a series of rape cases targeting Chinese women in their jurisdiction. According to information provided by the German police, the alleged perpetrator is suspected to be of Chinese nationality and employs a common modus operandi: posing as a female and using platforms like WeChat and Xiaohongshu to post rental advertisements. Under the guise of seeking housing or booking accommodations, the assailant meets victims at their rental locations and then commits sexual assault.

The Chinese Consulate General in Frankfurt is taking this matter very seriously. Upon receiving reports of these incidents, they立即 reached out to the local police and initiated coordination efforts aimed at rapidly resolving these cases to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in Germany. The police in Hesse have already issued warnings in German, Chinese, and English and set up a Chinese-language hotline to assist in the ongoing investigation in conjunction with the public prosecutor’s office. Relevant Chinese authorities are working closely with German counterparts to protect the legal rights of Chinese nationals.

Given the nature of these incidents, the Consulate urges all Chinese women in Germany to exercise caution when meeting potential renters or homebuyers. It is strongly advised not to host visitors alone and to keep communication channels open at all times. In emergencies, individuals should dial 110 for assistance. If anyone has information regarding the suspect or the victims, they are encouraged to report it to local law enforcement or to the nearest Chinese diplomatic missions.
