After a year of trial operation, the Guizhou Long March Cultural Digital Art Museum (Red Ribbon) officially opened on October 22.
This museum is the first immersive digital experience venue in China themed around the Long March. Since its trial operation began on October 22, 2023, it has hosted a total of 8,300 performances and welcomed over one million visitors from both within and outside the province, with nearly 800,000 attending shows. Notably, “Red Ribbon: Great Journey” had a record high of 11 performances in a single day, while “Red Ribbon: Colorful Flight” saw up to 82 performances in one day, attracting a maximum of 20,000 visitors on a single day.
Wang Zhiou, the chief director and designer of the Red Ribbon, explained that as the first fully immersive red-themed cultural and tourism digital experience venue, “Red Ribbon: Great Journey” features the industry’s most sophisticated real-world projection display system and the largest hyperbolic cinema. It combines cutting-edge technologies such as AI virtual interaction, holographic imagery, multi-dimensional mechanical movement, virtual reality, and three-dimensional soundscapes to digitally recreate the Long March. Meanwhile, “Red Ribbon: Colorful Flight” utilizes an impressive 8K giant LED dome cinema, allowing viewers to feel as if they are flying over the breathtaking landscapes of Guizhou.
Local high school student Zhang Yuwen shared her thoughts after visiting the museum: “When I entered the Guizhou Long March Cultural Digital Art Museum last December, I was deeply moved by the heroic exploits of the Red Army during the Long March. As a young person in this new era, I am fully committed to my studies and laying a solid foundation for the new journey ahead.”
Liu Liang, the deputy secretary of the party committee and general manager of Guizhou Broadcasting and Television Media Group, stated that the Guizhou Long March Cultural Digital Art Museum will continue to uphold the cultural essence of red resources and further optimize the content supply. He emphasized the importance of expanding the transformation of red resources, innovating ways to express and communicate red culture, and enhancing its appeal and cohesion.
