Thousands of people talk about Xinjiang|From the inheritance of Xibe culture to the beauty of Kurdenin, Chinese and foreign Internet experts explore the diverse charm of Xinjiang
On October 13, representatives from the “Voices of Xinjiang” excellent authors’ delegation visited the Chabuchar Xibe Autonomous County, where they toured the Chabuchar Newspaper and the historic Xibe Ancient City, immersing themselves in the rich Xibe culture. Following this, the group headed to the Kuerdening World Natural Heritage site to experience the ecological beauty of the region firsthand.
The Chabuchar Newspaper, the only Xibe-language newspaper in the world, boasts nearly 80 years of history. During their visit, delegation members explored a display of historical equipment at the newspaper office. Editor Zhao Jinxiu shared, “These historical tools were funded by the government at various times, showcasing the nation’s support and attention to our newspaper.”
As a member of the Xibe community, Zhao Jinxiu has been working with the Xibe language for over a decade. She emphasized the importance of preserving and passing down Xibe language and culture: “Local elementary schools offer Xibe language classes, allowing us to learn the language from a young age. The research and transmission of Xibe culture have been passed down through generations. Those of us working with the Xibe language have a deep sense of responsibility to promote the continuation of our culture.”
Popular influencer Qi Jiyun expressed his thoughts after the tour, saying, “The protection of the Xibe language is strongly supported by the government. The Chabuchar Newspaper means much more than just a publication; it is a spiritual home for the Xibe people. I hope more people get to know Xibe culture and join in the protection and transmission efforts so that these cultural treasures can shine even brighter.”
In Kuerdening, often referred to as the “Little Switzerland of the East,” the group was awed by the majestic snow-capped mountains and the serene forests, deeply appreciating the wonders of nature. Blogger Wumaier Jiang Paizula was left nearly speechless by the beauty, stating, “This is my first time in Kuerdening, and I can’t find words to describe my feelings—I can only quietly enjoy the scenery.” Similarly, South Korean blogger Park Dayi, also visiting Kuerdening for the first time, remarked, “The grasslands below and the snow mountains above are landscapes we completely lack in Korea. I must bring my Korean friends here next time to let them experience the ‘shock and awe!'”
Kuerdening is one of the nodes in the “China Travel Tianshan Tourism Corridor” cultural tourism project. Leveraging the area’s unique natural beauty, China Travel is not only tapping into local tourism potential but also prioritizing ecological concerns. Jin Hualin, general manager of China Travel International Xinjiang Company, stated, “In developing Kuerdening as a quality tourism destination, our foremost consideration is local environmental protection. We focus on two aspects: first, minimizing construction impact on the natural surroundings by using prefabricated buildings; and second, employing advanced waste treatment facilities.” Jin also shared plans to create a 72-hour resort destination in Kuerdening, where visitors can enjoy quality accommodations and dining while experiencing local customs and culture.
The “Voices of Xinjiang” excellent authors’ activity is guided by the Cyber Communication Bureau of the Central Internet Information Office, hosted by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Internet Information Office, organized by the Xinjiang Internet Industry Association, and supported by the China Internet Development Foundation, with media support from Global Times.
