An interview with key figures at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Expo in Bangkok sheds light on the event’s significance and advancements in the field.

On October 18, the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Expo kicked off in Bangkok, organized by various Chinese institutions, including the Thai Chinese Hospital and Thammasat University. This three-day event showcases the latest achievements in TCM.

“In attendance at the opening ceremony were Wu Zhiwu, Minister Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, Thailand’s Minister of Commerce, Phichai Naripthaphan, and Cheng Weichang, Chairman of the Thai Chinese Newspaper Do Good Charity Association,” noted an event spokesperson.

Wu Zhiwu commended the Thai Chinese Hospital on its 29 years of contributions, expressing hope that the expo will deepen understanding of TCM across different sectors and bolster its promotion and development in Thailand. “This will ultimately contribute to the health of both our nations,” he stated.

The event features participation from top Chinese TCM research institutions, including Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. One of the expo’s goals is to showcase new technologies that enhance quality of life and public health, thereby advancing TCM in Thailand. Noteworthy highlights include the “Smart TCM Multimedia Screen” and the “Kang Robot.” The multimedia screen can capture images of a patient’s face and tongue within six seconds and provide real-time health assessments, while the Kang Robot offers health diagnostics through tongue and face diagnosis, pulse assessment, and personalized questionnaires.

Additionally, the expo is engaging the public with free TCM massage, internal medicine, and acupuncture consultations. Attendees can also participate in DIY workshops for herbal sachets and wellness teas, alongside fun activities such as throwing pots and learning Baduanjin health exercises, drawing enthusiastic crowds from all walks of life.
