Empress Michiko of Japan is discharged from hospital after surgery and celebrates her 90th birthday on October 20_1
In a recent interview, it was revealed that Japan’s former Empress Michiko experienced a fall on October 6, resulting in a fracture of her upper right thigh. Following the incident, she was admitted to Tokyo University Hospital on October 7 and underwent surgery on October 8. Fortunately, as of this afternoon, she has been discharged and will continue her rehabilitation at home.
According to NHK, the fall occurred at the Sento Imperial Palace in Akasaka, Minato Ward, where the Empress resides. The Imperial Household Agency reported that her recovery after surgery has been satisfactory, and she is now focused on her rehabilitation process.
As she prepares to celebrate her 90th birthday on October 20, it is noteworthy that her last hospitalization was in September 2019 for early-stage breast cancer surgery.
