The 2024 China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition kicked off in Changsha on October 26, showcasing over 2,600 exhibitors from countries such as China, Italy, Germany, and Japan.

Renowned as the “barometer” of the Chinese agricultural machinery industry, this year’s exhibition revolves around the theme of “Creating New Productive Forces in Agricultural Machinery and Accelerating the Construction of a Strong Agricultural Nation.” Spanning an impressive exhibition area of 250,000 square meters, it is expected to draw over 200,000 visitors, setting new records in terms of the number of exhibitors, attendees, and exhibition space compared to previous events. The surge in participation aligns with a stabilizing agricultural machinery market, which is projected to see slight growth this year.

Experts note a significant global trend towards larger, higher-end, and smarter agricultural machinery. Fan Jianhua, president of the China Agricultural Machinery Circulation Association, emphasized that agricultural machinery is a vital force in advancing modern agriculture, rapidly transforming traditional agricultural practices and laying a solid foundation for establishing a robust agricultural sector with Chinese characteristics.

To reflect the theme and address industry developments, this year’s exhibition has been divided into traditional and specialty zones, featuring segments on planting and fertilization machinery, plant protection equipment, smart agriculture, intelligent machinery, and new materials and renewable energy. The event will also host over 50 forums and seminars focused on key national strategies, cutting-edge agricultural technologies, and high-quality development in agricultural mechanization.

Smart agricultural equipment and intelligent machinery serve as critical components of this new productive capacity in agriculture. Unlike in previous years, this exhibition sees a greater number of market-ready products stemming from years of research into smart agricultural machinery. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience firsthand innovative products like electric tractors, electric harvesters, and electric plant protection drones, highlighting their exceptional performance and environmental benefits.

As the host province for this exhibition, Hunan is committed to becoming a strong agricultural and manufacturing hub, continually enhancing research, production, and application of agricultural machinery. The province has achieved an average annual growth rate of 5% in the comprehensive mechanization of rice production, with main operating revenues in agricultural machinery surpassing 30 billion yuan. Companies like Zoomlion and Nongyou Group have seen their machinery products gain popularity in Southeast Asia and African countries. Innovations such as automated rice seedling production lines, rice-weeding robots, agricultural continuously variable transmissions, and oil tea harvesters have garnered recognition from local farmers.

The exhibition will run for three days and is co-hosted by the China Agricultural Machinery Circulation Association, the China Agricultural Mechanization Association, and the China Agricultural Machinery Industry Association.
